Vice-Chancellor: "UEW Poised to Instill its Distinctive Brand of Training in Students"

Prof. Mawutor Avoke, vice chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has assured the university's freshmen class of its readiness to inject its unique brand of training into preparing students for the real world.

Providing students with a once-in-a-lifetime educational experience that would enable them to have a big impact on society, he said, was a commitment of the university.

On Friday, February 24, 2023, during matriculation ceremonies held at the university's Winneba and Ajumako campuses, the vice chancellor provided this promise.

We have stocked our libraries with a wide variety of pertinent materials for your research and usage, and we will keep doing so. Books and internet publications are among them. There are tens of thousands of books and magazines in all of our libraries. We provide online access to more than 40,000 publications, databases, and catalogs worldwide," he said.

The University Clinic is prepared to provide clinical psychology services to assist students in their academic and general life endeavors, according to Prof. Avoke. He gave matriculants information on the Vice-Scholarship Chancellor's Fund (VCSF), which helps talented and needy undergraduate students overcome financial obstacles to enrolling in UEW courses.

"Qualified students are given financial aid through the VCSF to cover their educational costs. Students who are struggling financially are invited to apply when it is advertised. For undergraduate students, there is also the option of receiving financial aid through the Students' Loan Trust Fund. To begin the process of applying for the Students' Loan, you can get in touch with the Students Loan Trust Fund office, the man stated.

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged matriculants to embrace the UEW motto, "Education for Service," by using their expertise to help others. He encouraged students to become active in the UEW community and help create the society they envisioned in their home towns.

"Be aware that the University's programs are among the best in the world, and that you will need to put in a lot of effort to succeed. You will need to attend lectures and practical classes on a regular basis and submit all of your homework on time. I urge you to put forth extra effort in class, behave honorably, and break bad habits. You're urged to limit your travel and stay active.

Keep your decisions logical and focused. Make wise friend choices, behave responsibly in social situations, eat healthfully, and stay away from all bad influences. Let go of little things that stress you out. You must surround yourself with positive energy if you want to succeed academically, he counseled.

The ceremony revealed that a total of 8,823 people reported to Winneba and 797 to the Ajumako Campus. 48 of the 2,899 postgraduate applicants were admitted to the Ajumako Campus, leaving 2,899 to be admitted to the Winneba Campus.

After freshmen have taken the matriculation oath and met the academic requirements for admission, matriculation ceremonies are required procedures that confer membership in the university. The oath requires new students to abide by all university policies, including those detailed in the students' handbook and other official University documents.

Additionally, the oath stipulates that students must behave properly while attending the university to complete their studies. Matriculants receive all university-recognized rights and privileges as a result of the event, and the university administration is obligated to look out for the welfare of students.
