Breaking: Ghana player Christian Atsu trapped under rubble after Earthquake in Turkey
Following an earthquake, Christian Atsu of Ghana and his Turkish teammates are currently buried under debris.
Two players and two employees were "pulled out of the rubble," according to the Turkish media outlet Star, but Atsu and Taner Savut, the club's sporting director, are still missing. To find the two, a search and rescue operation is being carried out.
Also reportedly buried in the rubble is Yeni Malatyaspor goalkeeper Ahmet Eyup.
Atsu moved from Saudi Arabia's Al-Raed to Hatayspor in July 2021 after spending time on loan with Everton.
He scored the game-winning goal for his team against Kasimpasa on Sunday, just hours before the natural disaster at 4 a.m. on Monday.
The BBC reports that the earthquake has left thousands of people injured and more than 1000 people dead.
Hoepfully, he is found alive and retrieved.
